Santa Fe College Magazine: Partnership Edition 2014

This year I was blessed to have 2 of 3 covers of the Santa Fe College Magazine: Partnership Edition. Santa Fe College decided to go a different route this year and produced a 3-cover spread. Community partnership is the foundation for the colleges success in educating and instrumental in assisting santafecollege become the back-to-back #TopTen college in the nation. This partnership magazine is the college’s way of saying thank you to these partners in shared success and I am proud to be apart of it!

This morning Bridgette Moss who is on on the nursing cover as a graduate from the Santa Fe College 1st R.N. to B.S.N. graduating class came by my office this morning tired and straight from working the night shift at one of the local hospitals. She asked about the partnership book and if she made the cover, so I told her to look down and as soon as she saw her face on the cover she was nothing less than ecstatic. This made my morning!! This is why I love my job and I couldn’t have asked for a better way to start my day.

Saints Win Inaugural Game

Over 800 supporters came out to see the Santa Fe College Saints Inaugural Volleyball team start the new era of Santa Fe Saints Athletics with a 3-2 set win over Pasco-Hernando State College in their inaugural game debut. Head Coach Nick Cheronis said in a recent interview, “You only get to star a program once, you only get to have one opening game, and to have it as a five set screamer[…]I couldn’t have scripted it any better.” Saints volleyball are continuing an impressive start to their first season and is already setting precedent as the new program at santafecollege athletics. It’s been fun working with Coach Cheronis and the SF Athletics and through media coverage, photo shoots, designing posters, covering practice, etc I feel like I’m helping them make history off the court!

#LetsGoSaints

A while back I was shooting marketing photos for the santafecollege Perry Center for Emerging Technologies with the Communications and Creative Services team and came across this field of flowers just off the main road. I pulled over and as I was getting out to grab my gear from the back they started asking me what I saw for us to have to pull over. I just shocked my head, closed the door and began walking through the field. Sometimes you find something interesting and creatively beautiful for the simplest things that people overlook every day!

Thanks David Houder for capturing me at work and helping me bring this moment to life.

Miss Gainesville | Miss Florida Pageant 2014

The Miss Gainesville Scholarship Program, an affiliate with the Miss Florida/Miss America Organization, has maintained a tradition of empowering American women to achieve their personal and professional goals, while providing a forum in which to express their opinions, talent and intelligence. Shooting this annual event for the past two years, it’s amazing seeing these young ladies reactions when their hard work pays off. Congratulations to winners Keiko Osuma (Miss Gainesville), Savannah Gribbins (Miss Florida Gator), Jordan Thorp (Miss Gainesville’s Teen), Casana Fink (Miss Ocala’s Teen) and Shelby Bomford (Miss Florida Gators Teen).

Congratulations to my mentor and friend Robert Lawson, former university photographer of my alma mater North Carolina Central University (@nccu), on receiving the NCCU Athletics Lifetime Achievement Award today. This man helped me become a better photographer and have tough skin lol! Here he is showing one of his photographs of NCCU’s William Jones Building covered in snow during my photography class where it all began!
